New Staff at Park
Friends of San Angelo State Park
TWO NEW STAFF MEMBERS

Jade Hughes and Patricia Quintero have been added to the crew at the park making a total of
seven employees who keep the 8,000-acre park operating.

Patricia Quintero, Clerk I, began working in the gatehouse in October. Patricia is a part-time
staff person and a student at Angelo State University in Early Childhood Education . Patricia, a
San Angelo local, enjoys the outdoors aspect of working at the park.

Jade Hughes, Ranger III, replaces Larry Fuentes who transferred to Sandhills SP. “I like
working at this park,” he said. “There are some great people to work with and things are
constantly changing which makes it exciting.” Jade previously worked in San Angelo for two
years for the Texas Forest Service. He will be the Safety Officer. Jade is from Big Spring,
Texas, and has been a firefighter for the Bureau of Land Management in New Mexico. He
married the former Lizabeth Vosburg of Grape Creek. Their first baby will be born in February.

Others staff persons include Bill Guffey, Lead Ranger who, among other duties, tends the
Longhorn and Bison herds; Bobbie Patton, Ranger III/Interpreter; Pat Bales, Assistant Park
Manager and Program Specialist III; and Kurt Kemp, Park Manager.

Park Hosts assist the staff in gatehouse duties and maintenance. Park Hosts are traveling RV
campers who volunteer several hours per week in exchange for waived fees for campsites.
Volunteers work on trails, put on events, do general maintenance and special projects.
