the water troughs along park
trails in the park.  Equestrian

Under Texas Parks and Wildlife management, and in spite of a
lack of adequate funding, the park now features:
Friends of San Angelo State Park are a group of people who provide

Texas Tweeties by Bob Zellar:  http://bobzeller.wordpress.com/
“The greatest happiness possible to a man . . . is to become civilized, to know that pageant of the past, to love the beautiful,
to have just ideas of values and proportions, and then, retaining his animal spirits and appetites, to live in a wilderness.” – J.
Frank Dobie

The quotation from J.Frank Dobie, Texas storyteller and naturalist, opens  a beautiful collection of photos and stories about
Texas’ parks , “To Love the Beautiful: The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department”  at
http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/exhibits/parks/.

History and nature buffs will enjoy the extensive research into the past trials and triupmhs of the department in its mission to
preserve wilderness and historic sites for future generations.  The site, with its collection of vintage photographs, is
produced by the Texas State Library and Archive Commission.
